SKOBL (pronounced Sko-bull) is a new league aimed at extending basketball competition through-out the summer season in Saskatoon.
Saskatoon is a booming city with population growth like it has never experienced before and basketball is still one of its most beloved sports.
With dozens of outdoor basketball courts around the city, I’ve decided to draw on my experience being involved in administering leagues and events, my software and online registration system (Sport Report), and my contacts around Saskatoon to bring to life...
The SasK Outdoor Basketball League
It's mostly an adult league but we’re also trying out a concept of ‘Parents & Tots’ which is an obviously non-competitive division where parents/care-givers can play on the court alongside their kids! It’s intended to be developmental, interesting and fun. We're working out the details so click here to send us your suggestions.
Our divisions (but not limited to)
- Mens
- Boys
- Womens
- Girls
- Co-ed Adult
- Parents & Tots
- Bring Your Own Division (details - click here)
Detailed descriptions about each division can be found here.
A player registration costs $65.
It’s important to note, the cost is for player registration, not 'as a team' as many leagues are set up.
You can still join SKOBL as a team (5-15 players), but the cost is $65 per player.
I believe this will encourage more teams which will help when it comes to accommodating schedules and rescheduling.
It also results in the potential for prize money.
You can also register as an individual and you'll be placed on a team that meets your criteria.
Players can play on more than one team, in more than one division but must pay a separate fee for each registration.
Games take place outside but only under ideal conditions. If there’s any threat of rain, wind, lightening or excessive heat, SKOBL staff will notify players, refs and scorekeepers immediately and reschedule the game.
Skobl will provide:
- online registration & payment
- data-driven scheduling
